First, I want to express my appreciation for the great work on eDirectory. It’s a well-structured platform, and I’ve been developing it effectively for my project. However, I’ve encountered a key issue that I believe, if addressed, would significantly improve the platform’s usability and business potential.
Currently, admins can define "How many classifieds can an owner associate with their listing?" for different listing packages, such as:
Silver = X classifieds
Gold = Y classifieds
Diamond = Z classifieds
However, the issue arises when these numbers are displayed on the "Advertise With Us" page within the Listing Package details as:
📌 “X Classifieds” (or similar phrasing)
This leads to a misinterpretation by end users, who assume that:
❌ The listing package automatically includes X classifieds
❌ There is no need to purchase additional classifieds separately
✅ Either remove the “X Classifieds” display from the Listing Package details entirely.
✅ Or move this information to the Classifieds Package details, stating that “Up to X classifieds can be associated with a listing if applicable.”
This adjustment would:
✔ Eliminate confusion about what’s included in a listing package
✔ Ensure users understand that classifieds are separate purchases
✔ Reduce unnecessary support issues and improve the customer experience
Currently, admins set "How many classifieds can an owner associate with their listing?", which places a cap on the number of classifieds that can be linked to a listing.
While this system was likely designed for local business directories, it creates an unnecessary restriction that limits usability and flexibility:
Company Listings and Classifieds are separate features—businesses can purchase classifieds separately, so restricting how many classifieds a company can associate with their listing serves no real purpose.
The limit artificially restricts businesses—many need more flexibility in associating classifieds with their listing.
The cap reduces engagement and usability, especially in industries where businesses may need to associate a larger number of classifieds.
✅ Option 1: Remove the Classifieds Limit Entirely (Preferred Solution)
Eliminate the restriction on how many classifieds a company can associate with its listing.
This would ensure businesses are not artificially limited in utilizing classifieds.
✅ Option 2: Increase the Limit to 100 (If Removal Is Not Possible)
If removing the limit is not feasible, increasing it to 100 would allow for greater flexibility while maintaining some structure.
This change would:
✔ Improve the usability and flexibility of eDirectory for businesses
✔ Ensure companies can maximize their classified usage without unnecessary restrictions
✔ Enhance directory monetization by making classified package purchases clearer
By implementing these two improvements:
🔹 Fixing the misleading classifieds display in listing packages
🔹 Removing or significantly increasing the classifieds limit
eDirectory will provide a better experience for customers, reduce support issues, and increase business potential for directory owners.
I strongly believe these enhancements will make eDirectory more powerful while improving clarity and usability for all users. Looking forward to your thoughts on this!
