The Issue: Misinterpretation of Banner Display in Listing Packages
Currently, on the "Advertise With Us" page, the Listing Package details include an item labeled:
✅ Banner
This creates the impression that banner posting is included in the listing package purchase. However, in reality, this setting refers to whether other companies’ banners will be displayed on the listing’s detail page, not whether the package includes banner posting for the listing owner.
This can lead to:
❌ Confusion among customers, who might assume they can upload banners as part of their package.
❌ Unnecessary conflict and tension, as customers may feel misled after purchasing a listing package.
❌ Additional strain on customer support teams, needing to clarify the difference.
Proposed Solution: Reword the Banner Display Setting for Clarity
To avoid confusion and improve transparency, I suggest modifying how this feature is labeled on the "Advertise With Us" page. Some possible alternatives:
✅ Option 1 (Recommended): Change the label to:
📌 "Displays third-party banners on your listing page"
✅ Option 2: Provide a tooltip or info icon next to the "Banner" checkmark that explains:
💡 "This setting determines whether other companies’ banners will appear on your listing detail page. It does not include banner posting for your own business."
✅ Option 3: Separate this feature into its own section labeled "Ad Placement Settings", clarifying that it refers to external ads appearing on the listing, not banner posting privileges.
Final Thoughts
By making this small but meaningful adjustment:
✔ Customers will clearly understand what the listing package includes (or does not include).
✔ The risk of confusion and disputes will be minimized.
✔ Customer support teams will spend less time addressing misunderstandings.
I strongly believe this minor improvement will enhance transparency and trust for eDirectory users while improving the overall platform experience. Looking forward to your thoughts on this!
